Yes, we welcome well-behaved pets in the shop!

Yes, we have a single occupancy washroom located at the back of our store that is free to use.

We offer exchange or store credit on books in saleable condition within 30 days of purchase with proof of purchase. Special ordered books that we do not typically stock are final sale.

Magpie would love to host pop-ups from local artists/makers at no cost. Please send us an email to hello@magpiebooks.com to introduce yourself and your products. If our interests align, we would be happy to set up a day for you to pop-up in the store!

There is street parking along 76th avenue that is free. There is also a parking lot on the corner of 76 AVE and 96 ST.

Magpie Books is near bus stops 2344, 2132, and 2169. Bus routes 525 and 501 run at these stops.

Unfortunately, we do not accept used books. We encourage you to reach out to some of the incredible used book stores in Edmonton (Paper Birch, The Bookseller, The Wee Book Inn, and so many more!), or, if you are interested, we can donate some books on your behalf to a prison library.

Magpie Books works with two different organisations to get books into prisons (NorQuest College and The Gela Prison Project). We send books there on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. If you would like to contribute, both organisations accept paperback books (no hardcover books, please), of all genres; books featuring racialized or queer characters and writers are particularly in demand. Yes, we offer teachers (K-12) a 15% discount on books. Please place your orders using your EPSB, EIPS, or other school email addresses and we can apply the discount.

Not at this time. While we wish we could, we are a small independent bookstore and do not have the capacity to hire extra staff. 🙁 We hope to be able to expand our staff very soon!
